What to know about 80-inch TVs
Eighty-inch TVs are uncommon now that 85 is the standard large size, but a generation of them is still in service, and they’re heavy: older 80-inch LED sets often weigh around 100 pounds. If you’re moving one to a new wall, treat it as you would an 85 — two people, a wide bracket into at least two studs, and a clear path to the wall.
Reusing the original mount is usually fine if it’s rated for the weight; inspect it for bent arms and worn tilt joints. At nearly six feet wide, an 80 needs about 70 inches of clear wall plus breathing room, and the bottom edge will sit lower than people expect when the centre is at eye level.
Typical rooms for this size: large family rooms, basements and game rooms.
