What to know about 60-inch TVs
Sixty-inch TVs were the big-screen standard of the plasma era and have largely been replaced by 65s in current ranges. Many of the 60s we see on walls are older, thicker and considerably heavier than a modern set — an old 60-inch plasma can weigh more than a new 85.
If you’re replacing one, the existing bracket is usually strong enough for a new 65 or even a 75; check the VESA pattern and see whether the larger screen still clears the mantel or furniture. If you’re keeping an older, heavy 60, weigh it before choosing a full-motion arm and plan on two people to lift it.
