Mounting on tile, without cracked tile
Kitchen backsplashes, bathroom walls and tiled basement bars are popular spots for a smaller screen — and the place where a careless drill does the most expensive damage. Porcelain is especially hard and brittle.
We drill tile slowly with diamond core bits and water to keep the bit cool, through the tile only, then switch bits for the stud or backer board behind. The tile add-on is $30. Most tile installs are 32–50″ screens on a low-profile fixed mount, so labor is usually $94–$114.
What's included
- Diamond-bit drilling through ceramic or porcelain
- Anchoring into studs behind the tile, not the tile itself
- Sealing the holes in wet areas
- Low-profile mount so the TV doesn't stick out over a counter

Price my job →How we do it
- Plan the holes in grout or tile
We avoid tile edges and corners, where cracks start.
- Drill slow and wet
Diamond bit at low speed with water, through the tile only.
- Anchor behind
Then into the stud or a solid blocking — tile and backer board can't carry a TV alone.
- Seal
In bathrooms and kitchens we seal around the bolts so water can't get behind.
Questions about tile wall TV mounting
Can you mount a TV in a bathroom?
Yes, away from the shower spray zone. Steam is the enemy; a TV on the wall opposite the shower with a running exhaust fan is the usual answer.
What if a tile does crack?
It's rare with diamond bits, but if it happens we'll tell you right away. Keeping a few spare tiles from your install is always a good idea.
Can wires go inside a tiled wall?
Usually not without removing tile. We route wires to the nearest non-tiled surface or use a small cover.
