Soundbar mounting, centered and set up

A soundbar on the TV stand blocks the IR sensor, rattles the shelf and never quite lines up with the screen. Mounted on the wall a couple of inches under the TV, it's centered, the sound comes from where the picture is, and the stand can go.

We use the bracket that came with your soundbar or a universal one, center it under the screen, and connect it on the TV's HDMI ARC or eARC port so one remote controls the volume. It's $49 when we're already mounting your TV.

What's included

  • Mounting the soundbar centered 2–4″ below the TV
  • HDMI ARC / eARC connection and TV audio settings
  • Checking the TV remote controls the soundbar volume
  • Subwoofer placement advice if you have one

Prices

How we do it

  1. Measure the gap

Close enough to look like one unit, far enough that the bar doesn't block the TV's sensor or vents.

  2. Mount the bracket

Into studs where possible; soundbars are light, but they get bumped.

  3. Connect ARC/eARC

One HDMI cable from the bar to the TV port labelled ARC or eARC.

  4. Set it up

TV audio output set to the bar, CEC on, volume tested with your remote.

Questions about soundbar mounting

Above or below the TV?

Below is usual and sounds best for most rooms. Above can work over a fireplace mantel. See our soundbar placement guide.

My TV remote won't control the soundbar.

That's HDMI-CEC; it has a different name on every brand (Anynet+, SimpLink, BRAVIA Sync). We switch it on during the visit.

Can you mount a Sonos Arc or other big bar?

Yes, with the manufacturer's wall bracket. Heavier bars go into studs.
